I am now creating educational items and selling them on Teachers pay Teachers (TPT). So how did I make the decision to sell on TPT? Here is what inspired me to create my own materials, and why I decided to sell on Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT).
While on my hiatus from work I begin crafting again. I love having the ability to take my ideas and translate them into something homemade.Whether it is sewing, or making signs, invitations, scrapbooking, whatever. And as a teacher I may be a little bit of a perfectionist….just a tiny bit. As a teacher I make games all the time. It began as a way to save money as a new teacher. As a new teacher with zero resources I decided that the best way to have what I needed without breaking the bank was to make it myself.
Have you ever seen something in the store or online and thought, I can make that! And I can make that and save money at the same time!!!
I think that alll the time!!! Like sometimes my visions of grandeur and saving money outweigh the time, cost of supply and my real abilities to get it done. But that does not stop me from trying! I begin creating games and activities and sharing them with my co-workers a few years ago. After my return to work this year I begin to step up the quality of my work. I begin to purchase clipart and design using better layouts and graphics. While I was sharing my latest creation a couple of my co-workers mentioned I should sell my wares. I was hesitant at first. There are sooo many sellers on TPT who have a following, and much more to share. When that doubt entered my mind I could hear my husband’s voice telling me “You never know what could happen unless you try”.
The first product I added to my store was free. My son and I did a mini-unit on outer space and we focused on the moon. He loves making books on the computer, so we decided to make a book about the moon phases. I shared the book we made on TPT and I got a lot of interest. So I added the decor that I made for my classroom and a few games I have made. As of now I am adding products as I make them. I have 17 products as of today. I am excited about the new opportunity, and I hope all goes well.
Right now I am having a sale.(from January 9- 11) Go on over and check out my resources by clicking on the link. For a limited time here is a free letter and beginning sounds activity here. I use this with my classroom of Kindergarteners, but it can also be used with Pre-Kindergarten and younger to teach letter identification and beginning letter sounds. If you like what I you see please check out my store. There are featured products on the side bar. Please feel free to comment on the quality of my work and let me know if there are any changes I should make.
